Can of Worms edges closer to 1m

Questions such as whether religious headscarves have a place in Australia, and if Australians swear more than Americans or the British, helped Can of Worms improve its ratings on last week – and only just miss out on winning its timeslot.

The Network Ten show, produced by Zapruder’s Other Films and presented by Ian Dickson, rated 980,000, according to preliminary overnight ratings from Oztam. In the 8.45pm to 9.45pm slot, the show had a 25.8% commercial share – only just behind Seven’s 26.9% made up of the final 45 minutes of The Amazing Race and the first few minutes of Bones.

Overall, The Amazing Race rated 1.039m and Bones rated 485,000.

Ten stablemate Masterchef won the night with a healthy 1.758m, pipping The Block’s 1.544m on Nine. Nine’s Rescue Special Ops rated 865,000 as the show’s ratings continued their recent recovery.
