Carat strategy chief Gavin Ashcroft switches to client side to take CMO role at Disney
Disney has poached its media agency Carat’s chief strategy officer Gavin Ashcroft to become its new chief marketing officer, Mumbrella can reveal.
Ashcroft replaces Kylie Watson-Wheeler who left the role at the entertainment giant earlier this year to become general manager of licensing and retail. He will start on August 3 and be based in Melbourne.
The switch from agency to client side for Ashcroft comes after Carat held on to Disney’s $26m media account following a multi-stage pitch process initially involving up to eight media agencies.
The short list included Ikon, PHD and Starcom which eventually became a straight fight between Carat and PHD.
Congratulations Gav!!!
Fantastic news.
Well done Gav!
Smartest guy I’ve ever worked with
That’s how you know marketing as a discipline is dead.
I don’t know the person mentioned in this article and I wish him the best of luck. However this person hasn’t worked in a marketing role for about a decade and jumped across to client side as a CMO. Last time I checked, CMO stood for chief marketing officer. Go figure.
Mumbrella don’t censor this post either. I haven’t defamed anyone here.
Don’t be so quick to judge. He could have adaptabke intelligence which proved itself to Disney
Good luck Gavlaaaaar!
