‘Change is inevitable’: Innocean ECD to depart after four years for 72andSunny
Executive creative director at indie agency Innocean, Wesley Hawes, is departing the agency after four years, moving to 72andSunny.
Having joined Innocean in 2020, following a restructure, to help the agency transform into a “creatively-led, integrated communications offering grounded in data and insights”.
Prior to the indie agency, he spent time at CHE Proximity, Marcel Sydney, TBWA, BBH London, and more.

Under his creative leadership, Innocean’s CX offering was strengthened, with the additions of Romy Briers as CX director and Adrian James as CX insights director in late-2020.
He worked with clients including Hyundai, the Australian Marine Conservation Society, and more, and was a co-creator of Fck The Cupcakes.
In a statement to Mumbrella, the agency’s chief executive officer, Jasmin Bedir, said: “Wez and I had four amazing years together as a team. He is a lovely human, and we’ll of course miss him, but change is inevitable.
“We will make an announcement on our new creative leadership in due course.”
Mumbrella understands Hawes will be taking on the executive creative director role at 72andSunny, replacing Scott McClelland who departed earlier this year. McClelland originally replaced Luke Martin as ECD, who moved to Afterpay as its global head of creative.
Hawes will depart Innocean at the end of the year.
Mumbrella has contacted Hawes and 72andSunny for comment.
