Chris Hemsworth’s 12 Strong fails to crack $1m at weekend box office, with Black Panther earning additional $3.2m
Disney’s Black Panther has dominated at the weekend box office for the fourth consecutive week, raking in an additional $3.2m across 454 screens. The film has now earned over $32m at the Australian box office and has cracked the $1bn mark internationally, fending off a challenge from fellow Disney film A Wrinkle in Time in North America.
Roadshow’s 12 Strong, which stars Chris Hemsworth as a US Special Forces leader in Afghanistan and boasts Jerry Bruckheimer as a producer, couldn’t dent Black Panther’s performance and failed to crack the $1m mark in its first outing at the local weekend box office.
The film screened in 254 locations and earned $917,076.
That’s a billion globally.

Perhaps if the film had been released in Australia in line with the US release which was in early January, it would have done better. Not sure why the delayed the Oz release till 2 months later. The film was getting massive hype in the USA when it came out there, and that would have pushed it out here too.
