Clemenger left red faced after staffer hid image of a penis in university campaign poster

Clemenger BBDO Brisbane has been forced to withdraw an outdoor campaign for the University of Queensland after an agency staffer hid the image of a penis in the artwork.
The college humour fail occurred in September when the university rolled out the poster campaign aimed at attracting new enrolments.
It is believed the campaign was in market for several days before the university was made aware of the phallic addition after students began joking about it on Facebook.
An investigation by the university revealed the image had not been picked up by the agency during the approvals process.
A spokesperson said that the issue had been dealt with by the agency.
“The University became aware of an inappropriate image in some campaign material shortly after the campaign was launched,” said the spokesperson in a statement to Mumbrella.
“We advised the agency, which immediately removed and replaced the offending collateral. Any further inquiries should be directed to the agency.”
Mumbrella understands that the agency was forced to cover the cost of the reprint and distribution of the outdoor posters.
When contacted, Clemenger Brisbane declined to comment citing the matter as being “commercial in confidence”.
They also declined to discuss how the image had come to be included in the poster or if there had been any internal disciplinary action taken.

What a *ick.
Someone there sure has some balls.
It’s like Where’s Wally for grown ups. This could take off.
It’s still better than the Uni of Melbourne ads. Those things are deserving of badly drawn dicks.
Important to take a firm stance on these things
Subliminal Seduction, learned that in Marketing at Uni decades ago
Who was the clever dick who did that?
What a cock up
This is what happens when poorly paid juniors are delegated a task for a major client…….shame on Clemenger
A poorly paid junior you say? Well, If you’re certain… It must be.
Whoever did this should be promoted.
Immediately.
Really, #9? No lack of professionalism on the part of the person at all, it’s entirely Clemenger’s fault? You make it sound like the agency keep children in their basement and pay a dollar a day while whipping them and screaming “design FASTER!”.
It’s pretty clear there was a lack of oversight here (from Clem’s and the client) but whoever did this has absolutely no excuse. The ‘shame’ is on them, and I see a swift firing with no reference arriving in their Xmas stocking very soon…
This is simply amazing.
Pretty flacid response from the Uni
This is a complete fallacy….
You’d be hard up to find a better campaign design
Testicles.
The person who did this is a complete pr…!
Purile, juvenile and completely irresponsible behaviour. The agency should take legal action against the idiotic dipstick responsible, who has at very least caused them reputation damage and could have potentially cost the agency ignificantly in lost future earnings.
Idiots – if they hadn’t have put that red circle around it they would have gotten away with it!
Give the kid a promotion, if this hadn’t have happened no one would’ve noticed such a mediocre campaign
The value in PR and media coverage as a result would fair outway the cost or re-prints. Not to mention, the immature nature absolutely nailed the target audience….. the world needs to lighten up for christ sake.
How small and insignificant was it? Couldn’t see a thing in the wide shot.
utter bollix
Dicktation. Like as in dictation as in english and dick as in dick.
8=D tation
Is this a hoax? Unless this is a digital advertisement with moving footage – there is a problem reconciling the full image to the close up – the people walking alongside the building in the bottom LH corner are in different positions / different people? Please Explain?
More like Where’s Willy, amirite?
That’s nuts.
@ Hansen those are real people that are in the reflection of the glass of the bus shelter, where this picture was taken.
I guess the penis mightier than the sword
‘Blown’ out of all proportion
Art director needs to given the chop
Guys guys guys….Best Cock in the World…..I’ve got the case study already done
Been done.
Ages ago, in a Coca-Cola poster.
