Phil Salter one of the co-founders of direct marketing business Salmat has died aged 64 following a long illness.

Salter co-founded Salmat together with Peter Mattick and his own father Tom Salter, establishing a small catalogue distribution business in 1979 that grew into a multi-platform ASX-listed business with a market capitalisation of more than $123m.

Salmat chairman Mattick paid tribute to his friend saying: “I have lost a great friend and business partner and I will miss him dearly. Phil was an astute businessman who understood the value of strong client relationships. He was a large personality whose presence was felt in many areas.”
