Col Allan to return to Australia

The editor-in-chief of The New York Post, and former editor of The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph, Col Allan is to return “temporarily” to Australia.

In a surprise announcement made this morning, News Corp CEO Robert Thomson told staff Allan would: “Spend the next two or three months working with [CEO] Kim Williams and providing extra editorial leadership for our papers, which are in the midst of an important period of transition in our key markets.”

The email said Allan will arrive begin work in Australia from Monday and the end of the stint would “return to his position as Editor-in-Chief of the New York Post following the assignment”.

In his absence  Jesse Angelo, the Publisher of the New York Post will oversee the US tabloid paper.
