Coles uses Status Quo to promote price freeze
Status Quo stand on an iceberg with penguin backing singers, a walrus on drums and a polar bear on double bass in the latest ad for Coles to promote its frozen produce.

Coles has been using Status Quo to promote its low price message since July last year.
Most marketing is done by the store’s inhouse team, with involvement from Ted Horton’s agency Big Red.
Possibly the best yet.
Oh please fuck off.
They’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel…
This ad campaign just leaves me cold.
best one by far!
While I think it’s a little sad that Coles uses a 38 year old very average rock song, I have been in Coles and have heard kids walking around singing the Quo song.
So you can’t argue with that.
Can’t wait until they get to the toilet cleaner aisle……:)
Love it . . . but then again I am a part of the Quo generation !
Lets face it, the Quo ads have been a success and coles would be very happy i would imagine.
Staus Quo on the other hand…. still…. its only rock n roll.
I really like the way they use this song – and then play it to death in the supermarket. It’s fun, people, come on – lighten up!
“Chicken Tenders” guy @ 21 seconds is Gold!
Next up, Status Quo and “Flogging a Dead Horse”
Rock solid strategy. What’s woolies stand for?
Its the sort of silly idea I love to see approved….. Quo have pulled off what could have been horribly lame and sad….. with just the right self deprecating touch…..love it.
The little ‘ Chicken Tenders!’ guy should get his own ad….and maybe also a TV show.
I have to keep watching it just to see him say ‘Chicken Tenders!’
No.
This ad is really far fetched. Where is this supposed to be? Polar bears and penguins are not found in the same frigid regions. Is Coles making some ironic reference to climate change?
Kids will be signing that song for the next 30 years… like we can all sing “C’mon Aussie C’mon, C’mon”.
Adland hates it.
But this stuff works.
Bad, bad, these ads are bad!
All coles is doing is conditioning us all to by generic brands. Which will eventually spell the end for the brands they force into giving them generic product to begin with.. There’s an evil monopoly empire being built before our very eyes.
“Chicken Tenders” Love it. Best work ever!
