Criticism ‘unfounded’: ABC boss Hugh Marks defends Tingle and Ferguson’s Bondi comments

The ABC’s managing director Hugh Marks has defended separate remarks made by Laura Tingle and Sarah Ferguson in the wake of the Bondi terrorist attack, saying any criticism was unfounded.

During last Tuesday’s episode of the ABC Politics Now podcast, global affairs editor Laura Tingle claimed the actions of the terrorists “have got nothing to do with religion”.

On 7.30 the following night, host Sarah Ferguson asked former treasurer Josh Frydenberg — who made an impassioned speech criticising Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for failing to act on the rise of anti-Semitism — if his statements could be viewed “through a political lens.”
