Deja vu on GQ’s mea culpa
Remember GQ Australia’s entertaining mea culpa for its fashion disasters mentioned by Dr Mumbo earlier this week?
Turns out that the author of the well written piece may not have an Australian accent.
The Aussie piece read:
“On occasion, we’ve urged you to wear some egregiously silly things. We have spoken up in favour of shorter-than-short shorts, nipple-revealing singlets and the triumph of tartan. We have told you wearing such things was not only OK, but also bold and forward thinking. And for that we apologise.”
On the downside, it’s imminently sad Australian men don’t have a bright up-market men’s magazine to call their own. Sadly, the local versions remain in this desperate catch-22: nothing clever to read-no circulation-chase ad revenues-only write things about advertiser products-nothing clever to read. And around it goes. Still, with the healthy $A, subscribing to the overseas versions of Esquire and GQ and the likes is actually more affordable.
