Dementia Australia welcomes Aussie country star as new ambassador

Dementia Australia has welcomed an Australian country music singer and songwriter as its newest brand ambassador.
In honour of his mother, Adam Harvey, a nine-time Golden Guitar Award winner, has signed on as an ambassador, coinciding with his headline performances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
His mother’s dementia diagnosis inspired him to write his song ‘Remember Me’, and through his music, he hopes to bring greater awareness to dementia and its impact on families across Australia.
“My mum’s journey with dementia has been deeply challenging for my family, but it has also shown me the importance of understanding, support, and compassion,” Harvey explained.
“I’m honoured to join Dementia Australia as an ambassador, and I’m excited to use my voice to raise awareness about dementia, especially in rural and remote communities where support can sometimes be harder to access.”
Dementia Australia’s chief executive officer, Professor Tanya Buchanan said Harvey’s abilities to connect with audiences through his music, coupled with his genuine commitment to awareness of dementia, will have a lasting impact on the organisation.
“His openness in sharing his personal experiences with his mother’s dementia diagnosis highlights the importance of raising awareness and breaking down the stigma around dementia,” she said.
Harvey’s ambassadorship comes ahead of the Tamworth Memory Walk & Jog, an event taking place on February 9 to raise funds and awareness for people living with dementia, their families, and carers.
