Devine intervention

Anyone coming out in support of US President Donald Trump at the moment – or indeed anyone reporting on the chaos engulfing the country at all – needs to make sure they have their facts straight.
So Miranda Devine’s impassioned defence of Trump in today’s edition of The Daily Telegraph may want to go back and check the history books.
“After Americans voted in the first black president in 2004 you would think that racial division might have been put to rest,” she posits. “But it only grew worse under Obama, who fanned the flames of black grievance at every opportunity.”
Quick fact check from Dr Mumbo. Obama announced his candidacy in 2007, won the election in 2008 and was inaugurated in 2009.
In 2004 – a time before we said “practice social distancing”, when we didn’t know the name George Floyd and COVID-19 sounded like the name of a spacecraft we’d perhaps learned about in school and then forgotten – it was George W Bush who was president.
Devine though, seems to be a fan of facts, criticising mayor Bill de Blasio for commenting on police brutality “even though he didn’t know the facts of the incident”.
Arr yes, imagine that.
She must be pitching for a job on FoxNews in the US … has all the credentials.
… ah yes … in the 21st century people who call themselves journalists don’t concern themselves as much with little things like “facts” as long as the “story” gets the desired clicks …
Miranda always good for some comedy gold. Rabid idealogues like her will distort and convert ANY story to suit their strange narrative.
Never let the facts get in the way of your rush to support politics. But what do you expect from NewsCorp?
Is it just a coincidence that an anagram of said ‘journalist’ is … Riven Ad Maiden?
between the 2 of them they are about as in tune as my $40 guitar on a summers day.
Although, as mentioned above, if you are willing to sell your soul for the next gig, you’re exactly where you need to be.
‘Now everyone remember that the reason why News Corp is in such trouble is because Google and Facebook are not paying their fair share for news stories’ – latest news corp press secretary
‘But what about fact checking stories and inspiring Australians, wouldn’t that help bring News Corp back to being a turned to news source?’ – Media Intern
‘I don’t see how that is relevant, we need to get money from Google and Facebook. You’ll see how we do things around here’ – latest news corp press secretary
Fact checking – N/A gets in the way of a good story
Ability to be agile – N/A the internet is the bad guy
Inspiring Australians? – N/A negative news sells newspapers
No wonder why advertisers have been leaving the business in droves
