Doritos brings back ‘make an ad’ consumer competition
Doritos has brought back its “Make an Ad, Make a Fortune” competition which invites consumers to make their own ads for the corn chip brand, this year enlisting Merrick Watts and increasing the prize money to up to $50,000.
Created by ad agency Clemenger BBDO Sydney, TV and radio personality Watts will be one of four judges involved in the competition. He is joined by Clemenger’s new joint executive director Michael Spirkovski and Paul Nagy and Australian actor and director, Matilda Brown.
This competition was a shambles last year, where many of the weekly prizes went to users named hjjkkuhhuii as people were abuseing the voteing system just creating accounts to get thier own votes up. I am very suprised that they are keeping the same system that failed to deliver any semblence of a fair competition. The competition just ends up being based on who can get more votes and not on the merit of the advert, this was proof as last year with a backlash on the system as people that felt wrong done by voted in the worst of the adverts chosen by the judges. There was also a huge push to have this investigated and aired by the tv program that looked at the advertising world and adverts but the name eludes me. Not to mention last time the competition having entrants before the time the public was allowed which this website even reported on, I would hope you keep a close eye on the competition and it’s mechanics.
when you can’t come up with an ad idea for young males … create a bad UGC concept asking them to do the work.
Everyone should band together to make the shittest doritos ads ever
hoolly doritos!!!!!!!
