EBay hands global media account to new agency: ‘Their support will be critical’

EBay has awarded its global media account to a new agency, moving on from incumbent EssenceMediaCom.

This week, the company announced that it has handed the account to iProspect, a dentsu company, after an “extensive review process”.

In a statement given to Mumbrella, eBay said it is going through a global transformation and to support this, wanted to identify a media partner who can “help us identify synergies and scale globally while staying true to the unique needs of our customers within each market”.

“While we were very impressed with all the agencies who participated, iProspect stood out for their passion of the eBay brand and their strong operating model,” the statement reads.

“Their support will be critical as we focus on full-funnel campaigns that are integrated throughout the entire buying and selling journey.  We look forward to working with the iProspect team in 2025 and beyond.

“We want to thank all the agencies who took part in the review process, in particular EssenceMediacom. We appreciate our long-standing relationship and are very proud of the accomplishments we have made over the years.”

EBay consolidated its global media account with WPP’s Mediacom back in 2019.

Globally, the online retailing giant had been working with both Mediacom and Publicis Media, however at the time of the review, a spokesperson told Mumbrella that consolidating its media agency partners would allow the brand to streamline its marketing approach around the world.

In a statement given to Mumbrella, iProspect said it is “honoured” to be working with eBay.

“Our shared vision for accelerating growth and optimizing performance across the media funnel through innovation, data, and technology was clear throughout the entire process,” it said.

“We are excited about our future success together.”
