Empire revamps ‘hopelessly outdated’ website
ACP movie magazine Empire has revamped its website.
EmpireOnline.com.au now has new features and an overhauled content management system which was previously “hopelessly outdated”, according to editor Daniel Murphy.
The relaunch is to be celebrated with a screening of Peter Berg-directed blockbuster Battleship at Hoyts Broadway in Sydney.
Murphy said: “We are delighted to finally have a digital headquarters that works so well in tandem with our print edition. While attracting an impressive active membership community of 15,000 users, our previous content management system was hopelessly outdated. Access to our 10,000 strong reviews reference library is now infinitely easier, our trailer hub is now hosted on the site itself, and the entirety looks beautiful and is a pleasure to navigate.”
Honestly guys – get over the whole ‘Matt Stanton said some magazines might close’ thing.
Every time you type A followed by a C and then a P, this quote comes up.
All he said was what any business chief would say – that his company is constantly evaluating what’s working, what’s not and what could be created.
You’re having a slow news year, apparently…
Hi Big Fish,
You make it sound like this has been going on for months.
He said it nine days ago. I think you may have us confused with the Australian, B&T or AdNews, or all of them, as they all reported it too.
Cheers,

Ladies please….
EMPIRE Its such a shame that the website so eagerly anticipated and so long overdue had to launch and go live without advertiser support. To launch a new product packed full of house ads is a real shame. Bing medrecs & leaderboards….. its a waste. A great opportunity to to launch with a BANG has had to settle for a BING!
site looks good, but its community stuff, isnt actually working. comps, profiles etc etc. Good ole ACP can’t even afford a decent web dev
You’d have to think with the numbers etc Empire would be favourite – alongside Rolling Stone and that awful wrestling mag ACP do – to be next on the chopping block.
