April Fool: AFR to switch to broadsheet format
Noon update: This story was published on April Fool’s Day
The Australian Financial Review is to move to a broadsheet size after 60 years in compact format, Mumbrella can reveal.
The move puts the AFR in line with global financial titles such as the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal which differentiate themselves from the market through their larger size.
Is the relaunch planned for April 1? Nice one!
Not subtle enough…
Check the date – it’s April 1st!
Nice one Tim.
Almost as funny as the SMH charging $15/month for digital access when the Telegraph in the UK charges only £1.99/mo ($2.90) http://pic.gs/cx
April 1….
April Fools!!
April 1…
AFR research appears to say C-Suite executives are total narcissists.
Terrible idea. I’ll be switching to the Age
Love April Fools…
April fool……lol
I thought this was an April Fools Day joke until I read the market research bit which has a horrible ring of truth about it.
ROFL! Good one 😉
LOL! What a great April 1st gag, I totally fell for it at the first par, was still sold at the second and all ready to tweet it as ‘breaking news from @Mumbrella’ when I thought “Hang on, why does this break on a public holiday” and then the penny dropped. Well done!!!
April fools???
Anyone who is sucked in by this fairly lame attempt at an April Fool’s Day joke is an idiot.
Very good: “research which showed that the pleasure centres in executives’ brains are 15 per cent more likely to be triggered when reading the popular Rear Window column in broadsheet format compared to compact.”
I’m guessing that they will have another announcement on April 2nd
Ha ha! Good one, Mumbrella – you almost had me, until I remembered today’s date 🙂

Ha, good April Fool’s Tim…
I love the Brett Clegg quote!
Every day is April Fools Day for Fairfax and their remaining readers.
Broadsheet with more ads!
Is the best you can do?
