Fairfax Media promotes Liam Phelan to editor of Sun-Herald

Fairfax Media has promoted Liam Phelan to editor of its Sunday newspaper The Sun-Herald, taking over from David Rood who has been promoted to national subscriptions editor.

Phelan was previously the Sun-Herald deputy editor, chief page editor for news at the SMH and night editor at the SMH.

Liam Phelan promoted to editor of The Sun-Herald

Editor in chief of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Sun-Herald Darren Goodsir said: “Liam is a brilliant page editor, backbencher and general newsman, and has been an outstanding deputy for the past few years. He has a great understanding of The Sun Herald’s audience across platforms, and a prowess in championing the campaign journalism that has seen us leading the news agenda so often on the weekends.”
