Omny aims to solve major podcast issue with Podcast Discovery Feed
On-demand audio publishing platform Omny is looking to solve podcast’s discovery challenge with the launch of its Podcast Discovery Feed, which will provider subscribers with new podcasts on a weekly basis.
Revealed at yesterday’s National Radio Conference by Matt Saraceni, head of content at Omny Studio, the feed providers subscribers with a list of new podcasts on a weekly basis and allows those users to then subscribe to the shows they like.
“There is the big problem of discovery which is what podcasts are suffering from the most. Right now that discovery piece is owned by the Apple iTunes Store,” Saraceni said.
When newspapers began, they were filled with ads for Dr Dulcinaro’s hair restorer, which having guaranteed to restore hair, actually made the few remaining ones lank and greasy before they fell out, liver pills and kidney pills, the only effect of which caused ones pee to turn green, and electric underpants and corsets to cure a string of ailments from obesity to lumbago. people believed that, if it was in print, it was superior and probably true. took a long time for newspapers to become respectable, its debatable weather they ever actually did.
Digital has a way to go before it settles down, and who knows what’s on the drawing board :o)
