Former Uber APAC CMO Andy Morley joins Pet Circle

Former Uber Asia Pacific chief marketing officer Andy Morley is set to join e-commerce platform Pet Circle as chief customer officer.

Morley, who departed Uber in November, will take charge of customer strategy across product, brand and media for the venture capital-backed pet supplies retailer.

He spent nearly a decade at the ride-sharing and delivery giant, becoming ANZ director of marketing in 2019 before being promoted to APAC CMO in 2023.

In a press release statement, Morley said: “Pet Circle has the key ingredients of a fantastic consumer offering, and it has already built genuine loyalty at scale. I’m joining because I believe the strongest chapter is still ahead, and that it will be built on knowing and serving pet parents better than anyone else.”

Morley’s role at Uber was subsequently filled by Ally Doubé, who was appointed APAC marketing director in February, a role that saw her relocate from Tokyo to Sydney.

His arrival comes amid a period of expansion for Pet Circle, which reported a widening loss of $36.9 million in the last financial year, according to the AFR. Revenue also slipped 2.9% to $373 million in the 12 months to June 30, with losses increasing by $10.5 million year-on-year.

However, in a statement announcing Moreley’s appointment, Pet Circle CEO Alistair Venn emphasised that the “pet category in Australia is poised for the next wave of digital innovation and growth”, adding “we’re building the team and the strategy to lead it.”

Alongside hiring Morley, Pet Circle also promoted Ella Lymbereas to head of marketing, e-commerce, stepping up from her previous role leading the retailer’s brand and creative output.

Her remit has included work such as the 2024 “Top Dog” campaign, built around the brand’s “price beat promise” positioning.

The campaign spanned multiple channels, including experiential activations, with street stencils placed in popular dog-walking areas across Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, alongside radio, social, out-of-home and digital.
