Fox Sports launches beta version of Kayo sports streaming service

The beta version launched yesterday
Fox Sports has launched the beta version of its new stand-alone sports steaming service, Kayo Sports.
The service will provide fans with access to more than 50 sports both live and on demand, including cricket, AFL, NRL and the A-League as well as European soccer leagues, US basketball and surfing.
According to the website, Kayo Sports will provide prospective users with a 14-day-trial before giving the option of two ‘no lock in contracts’.
The first is a basic subscription of $25 a month, while premium users can access the site for $35 a month. The difference comes down to the amount of screens a user can watch at the same time. Basic subscribers can use the service on two screens and one time, while premium users can use three screens.
Kayo Sports will also have a number of features including the option for an HD stream, split-view coverage, and coverage of ‘key moments’.
A note on the website describes Kayo is the “game-changing sports streaming service”. It has also been previously described by Foxtel CEO Pat Delany as the “Netflix of sport”.

In the beta version, users can select from a number of avatars, before choosing their sport code and team preferences
Upon signing up to the service, users are asked to chose an ‘avatar’ before searching or listing their favourite sports. An option to avoid spoilers is available. Users can then select whether they want news and highlights, classic moments, documentaries or interviews and discussions, classic moments and understanding sport.
They are also able to select their teams and chosen sports. Should they chose not to, they are taken immediately to the coverage, where they can select from a range of programs and sports.
It is currently available for Mac and PC, mobile and tablet, and Chromecast. Android, iOs & TV and Telstra TV are coming soon. The app will officially launch later this year.
The response so far has been mostly positive.

Really interested in this Kayo Sports thing. They’re calling it the Netflix for sport. Will you scrap Foxtel and get this cause it’s cheaper? Like the idea of being able to split screen. @1278Breakfast

So Kayo Sports took me literally all of sixty seconds to sign up with. That's a plus.

Not attempting to be negative but maybe I'll never be a kayo sports subscriber. nrl, a-league and afl covered by telstra, epl champions league covered by optus, 10 months into an annual bein connect subscription and I get ESPN for $6 a month with Fetch. Oh and nbl TV $5 a month

Does anybody else think that $25 is too steep. Less sport that Foxtel overall but Netflix is $10….Doesn’t sound like a game changer but more a defensive play
$25 is the same as the sports pack on Foxtel… and I only have Foxtel for the Formula 1. Signed up to test it out. When Kayo ship their AppleTV app I can cancel Foxtel and say goodbye to the garbage fire set-top box. (Assuming of course the app isn’t buggy pile of poo too)
$25 is fair considering the variety and the live aspect of some sports plus the business model needs to be sustainable unlike some other streaming services.
How is this different to Foxtel Now? What does it mean for Foxtel?
