Foxtel confirms departure of Hubbl boss

The managing director of Foxtel’s Hubbl quietly left the business earlier this year.
The media giant confirmed that Les Wigan has departed which has come to light just six months after the launch of Hubbl.
In an internal note sent in April , Foxtel CEO Patrick Delany confirmed that Wigan would be relocating to the US to join Venu – a new sports streaming app from ESPN, FOX and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Wigan is understood to have left some weeks later.
Wigan initially joined Fox Sports as COO in 2014 and played a big role in the development of Kayo and BINGE. He went on to serve as Foxtel’s chief product, technology and operations officer, before taking on the Hubbl MD role in May 2023.
Mumbrella understands Foxtel wanted to look at a reorganisation of its operating model following Wigan’s departure as well as former group chief commercial and content officer and BINGE managing director, Amanda Laing, in April.
Wigan was replaced by Hilary Perchard who was involved in the conceptualisation of Hubbl.
This restructure has seen the appointment of Paul Meller as group chief technology officer – who moved to Foxtel from EY – and Perchard’s title changing to chief executive officer, Foxtel Retail and Hubbl.
Meanwhile, the CEO of Foxtel’s streaming and advertising division, Julian Ogrin, has also had a title change to chief executive officer, streaming and advertising.
