Graeme Mason new boss of Screen Australia
Screen Australia has again looked to New Zealand for its next new boss.
Ruth Harley, who did not have her contract renewed, will depart the role in November.
She will be replaced by Graeme Mason who has been CEO of the New Zealand Film Commission since he succeeded Harley in 2009.
The move marks a return home to Australia for Mason who has also been president of worldwide acquisitions for Universal Studios and head of media projects at Channel 4 in the UK.
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah. Same old bullshit. ‘The bridge between industry and government and a balance between culture and commerce’. That script has been shot many times before. That’s code for ‘If we don’t make any money it’s ok, because we’re supporting Australian culture.The problem is the ‘restraint of trade’ Screen Australia film financing model is economically, commercially and creatively unsound and no one has can or will make any money. Except perhaps Baz. And least of all Screen Australia which basically continues to trade while insolvent. As for culture? Don’t get me started.
