The 11th instalment of the Halloween film series and Goosebumps: Haunted Halloween went head to head at the weekend box office, but neither were able to attract earnings as large as A Star is Born.

In the lead up to October 31, ‘Halloween’ entered the box office, making $2.777m on its first weekend across 439 screens. The film is the 11th instalment in the Halloween film series and a direct sequel to the 1978 film.

At the same time, Sony’s Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween ran across 260 screens and made $1.048m on the weekend.
