Honda transforms car park into ‘fantasy world’ for new TV ad
Honda is today launching a campaign to promote its CR-V model, set in a fantasy world shot inside a high-rise car park.
The set for the TV ad, created by DraftFCB and production company Photoplay, took more than three weeks to build with a crew of 40 installing scenes including a terrace street scene, a theatre and a winter wonderland.
Looks like it was Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter.
What a lovely piece of work. A little bit different. Really well executed one. Great music. Delighted to see no mandated of shot of many children climbing into car to demonstrate family appeal, space etc. Jolly good show.
It’s a bit like this, done 12 years ago for Reanult. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0UWE3S8nSI
after decades of their boring as batshit line of commercials, such as the Cog (Rube Goldberg animation) and the series of forgettable ‘Power of Dreams’ / ‘New from Honda’ series of dross. it’s not surprising Honda has a long-standing reputation as cardigan-wearers’ car of choice. hopefully this shift will turn that perception around.
it’s a wonder they didn’t reuse their incredible work from Japan — I think the quirky style of the home-grown advertising would have been infinitely more effective here than what we had to endure in previous years, albeit the demographic may be different here.
it’s great to see Honda finally trying something new, (even though it looks like it was done on the cheap).
