How to speak Australian (if you’re an idiot)
You may recall that Publicis digital agency Digitas opened its doors in Australia a few weeks back.
Well, here’s some great news for the agency. They’ve got some marvelous international work with an Australian flavour that they’ll be able to chuck onto the showreel.
This steaming pile insightful exploration of the nature of Australians – created by Digitas Chicago – really does show a deft touch, wouldn’t you agree?
Horrible.
ewwwwww horrible!
That is incredibly painful. I’m not sure I’ve ever been injured by a cringe before, but it definitely just happened.
OH dear
– I do not think their accents were actually Australian, more like that cockney english you here on the Simpsons etc.
And that cut up shirt on GPS – AS IF any outback bloke would be caught dead in that “Flinstones” like wardrobe.
trying to hard but not enough.
sorry it has ruined my HEARing
Created by Digitas Chicago… by Americans ..for Americans!
The Australian perspective…
Fosters beer – FAIL
Digitas Chicago – FAIL
A tired idea and clumsy execution.
Ironically making it perfect for its target market.
I don’t know of ONE Australian who actually enjoys Fosters ??
Jeez. What a bunch of uptights. Kinda funny I thought. Yeah the accents arent great – Aussie, like the South African accent are quite hard to do well. Who cares its a frickin silly beer ad.
Yo Mal, it’s not uptight, it’s bad. A tired old idea, executed badly. The same old tired idea, executed well would’ve been ok.
lol @ mazzy!!!
This was just nasty!!
What the?
As a Yank who lived in Perth and now works at an agency, please accept my sincerest apologies for those ads. Wow. There are plenty of Aussies in the US who could do proper accents. Good luck, Digitas…
Blaming the yanks is a copout.
There are plenty of Aussie ad agencies who seem to think sounding really dumb appeals to a working-class target audience.
I don’t agree. I think a dumb-sounding voice sounds stupid to anyone.
Made for dumb yanks…but pretty funny ads I thought, sorry.
