‘I want to win box office’: Netflix boss commits to cinema releases for Warner films

Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has committed to a 45-day cinematic release window for Warner Bros’ movies, saying the company plans to “win” at the box office.

Sarandos made the pledge — in support of Netflix’s bid to acquire Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) — in a New York Times interview published over the weekend. He also said Warner Bros’ theatrical division is a  “healthy, profitable business”.

“When this deal closes, we will own a theatrical distribution engine that is phenomenal and produces billions of dollars of theatrical revenue that we don’t want to put at risk. We will run that business largely like it is today, with 45-day windows,” Sarandos said.
