Junior Masterchef fades on third outing but The X Factor fails to capitalise
Sunday’s TV viewing saw several big shows down compared to the previous week. Among the biggest falls was Ten’s Junior Masterchef which won the night with 1.507m but was well behind last week’s 1.748m and its debut of 2.202m.
And Seven’s The X Factor was down slightly on last Sunday too, rating 1.054m, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.
Junior Masterchef will now be on hold until Ten’s coverage of the Commonwealth Games is over.
Meanwhile, Ten’s sports channel One had a good night with an average of 368,000 tuning in to watch Australian driver Mark Webber’s battling third place on the Singapore Formula One grand prix which was enough for him to maintain his world championship lead.
I think the heart of this story is the uneasy relationship between journalism and social media. The only difference between a blogger and someone like Watergate’s “Deep Throat” is that the person inside no longer needs to support the career of a journalist to reach their audience.
