Kim Duthie interview takes 7PM Project to 923,000
The 7PM Project’s controversial interview with St Kilda sex scandal schoolgirl Kim Duthie took the show to 923,000 viewers for Ten last night.
After airing a tough interview with the panel – in which they were clearly sceptical about her attempts to withdraw her previous allegations – the show aired her post-interview confession that she had just lied to them.
According to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam, the show was ninth for the night.
Always plenty of rubber-neckers for a train-wreck.
That girl needs to be provided with urgent mental health support. I’d suggest overseas would be a good start.
Duthie knows exactly what she is doing, for an instant she glances directly at the camera while “confessing”, she knew it was being recorded.
She should start selling media, she’ll make a killing…
As the father of a teenage girl I think the media’s constant coverage of this girl’s story borders on child abuse. She needs help. The media would win a big tick from me if they said enough is enough and placed an embargo on reporting anything about her.
So she rates, but aren’t there any values left besides ratings? What a horrible piece of television. Worse is that you can see that while she loves the attention, it will destroy her. It’s like selling her drugs in exchange for ratings.
That said, Ricky Nixon – regardless of what did or didn’t happen, if you were a young player would you want someone so lacking in judgement representing you?
I’m with “child abuse” at 12:21 – for the girl’s sake I desperately wish media would just walk away from her (and she’d find some REAL guidance). Kudos to the Sydney Morning Herald, who (at least until yesterday, not sure about today) have not named her or shown her photo.

Don’t blame the media. Look at the numbers. They will stop reporting on her when we the punters stop staring at her.

As soon as this incident / people are on, I switch channels. the media should not broadcast / publish it, she needs help, not attention
I really hope this girl gets help, and soon.
Look, the girl is drunk with power – she’s discovered she can get a hell of a lot of attention, far more than just putting out for AFL players, by making things up and going on the tele or whatever.
She’s not going to stop till the media stops covering her and unless she is about to top herself or go on a 5 state killing spree and says she is about to do so , then she can’t be scheduled or committed to a mental institution. (it’s actually quite hard – that why we have so many mental health related killings and preventable suicides)
I agree she may live to regret this, but to be honest she does have balls, she’s no shrinking violet and who knows maybe she won’t.
I predict one of the lad’s mags will have her on the cover and naked inside as soon as she is 18 and it will be a best seller.
She was paid to be on the 7pm project. She should start writing ficton – who knows she could be the next JK Rowling!
kim is a victim of the education system, the education system don’t want religious instuctions at school. yet they allow the VFL to send football players to schools, for the sake of promoting their football religion to young children, kim is “the victim” used by a footballer on such a visit to her school who used the sixteen year old at the time, for his sexsual pleasure then dumped her.
and why did the VFL paid a hotel room for the young teenager? i think that the reason is obviose.
i admire kim for her wit and great intelegence , any other poor teenager would have suffered in silence.
these footballers are bad models for young children they are always on the news for the wrong reasons , yet schools let them in amongst young minds for the good of the game.
no wonder some religions don’t want any part of our education system and want their own schools instead, for once i agree with them completley.
