Legend of Tarzan swings into second place at the box office

The debut of The Legend of Tarzan has seen the Village Roadshow production pull in $4.2m during its first weekend at the box office, but it was not enough to challenge the continuing dominance of Finding Dory.

The animated film continues to be the top choice for movie goers during school holidays pulling in $5.05m over the weekend on 454 screens to Tarzan’s 334 screens, bringing its total ticket sales to over $40m.

The BFG, based on the Roald Dahl book, also performed strongly pulling in $3.339m while Central Intelligence which stars The Rock and was in second place last week slipped to fourth with $3.097m, on a bumper weekend for cinemas nationwide.
