Lingerie brand Honey Birdette has 19th ad banned by watchdog
Lingerie brand Honey Birdette has had one of its advertisements banned for the 19th time, this time for portraying a level of nudity which would be considered by many as inappropriate.
The poster ad, which features a woman in a black lace body suit with her nipples exposed, was labelled as “sexually suggestive”.

“I’m really struggling to understand how they keep getting away with this.”
…said the one person who keeps pounding the Ad Standards Board with the same complaint.
Just give up, nobody but you cares.
Hhmmm,
I don’t find nipples offensive, why is a nipple offensive? What did the poor nipple do to deserve such attention? 🙂
Why do Ad standards pander to the whims of the prude few?
Honey Birdette’s advertisements are only sexually suggestive if you want them to be. Some women find the Ads empowering and believe they celebrate women.
Honey Birdette is successful and is growing exponentially because women want to wear it, buy it and have a right to celebrate themselves and there’s nothing wrong with that.
The prude few should stop trying to ‘ban the bra’, they should buy a few.
I’m more offended by the high waisted look. Surely kids see their parents in underwear at some point every week ?
Its only adults who will think there is a sexual link here…. and maybe the reason for that is because sometimes, something sexual happens when you get to this level of disrobing?
The issue is that so many of their ads are made from the perspective of the male gaze. Sigh. This one isn’t actually that bad. And agree re the nipples – it’s time they were free.
