Lost dog – can you help us find him?

He was seen briefly in a production studio at 70 George street Tim but after that the trail goes cold I’m afraid ………..……..poor little fella………..somebody should report the owners to the RSPSA (Royal Society for the prevention of Scam ads)

Oh no, the agencies producing scam ads are doing righteous and noble work, it’s the journalists calling them on it that are the real problem here.

Back to reporting TV audiences, running conferences and having your asses kissed by ad execs with poor campaigns they want PR for.

It was interesting whilst it lasted though.

I’m so bored with this whole thing, time to move on mumbrella. We get it.

Cannes is the ad equivalent of the fashion show. No one wears the clothes on the catwalk, no one runs the ads on the winner’s dais.

Cannes scamming aside, if it did happen, I’m sad the brands didn’t want to run these ads nationally as they’re brilliant.

There’s one argument in SUPPORT of Cannes scam that keeps popping up in the comments:

‘Scam is fine in award shows, as they are a celebration of creativity, not reality.’

Simply put, this is wrong, according to the rules as set by a multi-million dollar global organisation. And if the show is laying out rules which most follow but then turning a blind eye to others, then it is corrupt.

If Cannes wants to turn this convention (to some) into practice, it just has to amend the rules. Something along the lines of,

‘ads that have barely run, if at all, and were designed specifically for award shows are permissible. No media schedule is needed to be provided, and whether the agency or client paid for the campaign is irrelevant.’

But as it is, Cannes is making a lot of money, in a festival that influences global companies and captivates a global industry for weeks, on corrupt practices.

So if you feel mUmbrella should get off it’s high horse and accept scam ads as valid award-show entries, with all due respect (I’m really not trying to be condescending here), you should send your comments to Cannes, and get them to change the rules. If this is how you feel, it is Cannes who has started this issue by going against rules they have stated. mUmbrella is just trying to get to the bottom of the matter (which is what journalists get paid to do).

Given ads are designed to be seen, really not sure why the agencies wouldn’t want to tell you, it’s not like we generally try and hide ads.

Who cares – its a good ad.

Are you aware of the current investigation underway in Australia into the alleged submission and receipt of (edited by Mumbrella) global advertising awards by your local market agency Saatchi & Saatchi in Australia and approved locally by Panasonic Australia.

As a consumer and if the allegations are approved to be true, I am interested in understanding if this behaviour is a reflection of Panasonic’s brand values and attributes.

I am also keen to understand the relationship between this type of (edited by Mumbrella) behaviour and Panasonic’s positioning of “A Better Life, A Better World”

According to this article located by @DMC in an earlier story by mumbrella, it’s already been done. And was shortlisted for Cannes in 2008.

Don’t know how it went at Cannes that year, but judging standards must be slipping. How would you feel if you were the legitimate creator of this idea only to see someone else use it ‘legitimately’ and get a shiny doorstopper five or six years later?

It’s not just scam that’s worrying about all this.

Scam journalism at it’s best.

Who cares – its only advertising.
It’s not like its gonna change the world or anything….
Apart from some dogs trying to imitate art and scratching the duco on cars trying to get into them, to get that air conditioning blow back experience.
So OK it will change something.

I think you call it ‘Native’ advertising but I have seen this heaps of times.

It is all over this site called Mumbrella masked as editorial. And I think it was also sighted in the south if France.

Never seen either dog but Panasonic needs to hire a new design team because that gradient beneath their logo is dogs poo.
Looks like something out of 1997 Microsoft word.
