Nine’s The Voice has seen its lowest audience of the season, with metro viewer numbers falling to 953,000.
Despite the fall in viewers, it was the most-watched non-news program of the night and still managed to beat Seven’s House Rules and Ten’s Masterchef.

Dear Mumbrella, it is not a requirement of a trade media journal to present a simple news story in its most negative form. I find this persistent bias against traditional media platforms and owners tedious and inappropriate.
Hi Gezza,
Thanks for the comment. The most obvious way that we recognise the strength of that very traditional medium, television, is by, day in and day out, writing our ratings report. On any given day, there are winners, and there are losers, and we cover them.
And usually, we report the winners.
In the last two weeks, other than the article you’re commenting on, the headlines of our ratings stories have been:
-House Rules wins the night as Masterchef tops demos
-House Rules only non-news program to crack 1m metro viewers
-60 Minutes wins ratings battle with Sunday Night over Cassie Sainsbury
-Seven wins week despite success of The Voice and Masterchef
-Masterchef wins key demos as Ten nudges ahead of seven
-Seven wins Wednesday night television despite Masterchef success
-Masterchef attracts its largest audience since this year’s launch
-The Voice pulls in more than 1m metro viewers to help Nine win the night
-Seven wins the night as House Rules grows
As you’ll see, nine out of nine, have picked the positive angle, and showcased the winner, including The Voice, twice. Yet you’ve picked upon the single negative headline of the last ten.
So I guess, I shuold remind you, Gezza (with tongue slightly in cheek), that it’s not a requirement of a commenter on a trade media journal website to be negative. I find this persistent bias against the trade press doing its job tedious and inappropriate…
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
