Macquarie Bank marketing boss Liz McCarthy joins JetStar
Macquarie Bank marketing chief Liz McCarthy is tipped to be joining JetStar.
McCarthy, who was head of marketing, division director at Macquarie Bank for a ten years, will replace David May who left the airline six months ago to join iSelect.
She is expected to fill the role of head of marketing and public relations.
A member of JetStar’s PR team said that McCarthy was joining, while Macquarie Bank confirmed that McCarthy was no longer with the company.
let’s hope she can manage the spend and targeting better than it’s been done in the past. Notice that Jetstar have started back on main media over the last few months.
At least Jetstar still has some positive PR and a relatively good image..
And its run on a shoestring…

Todd – you are aware that Alan Joyce ran Jetstar for many years before being promoted to Qantas group CEO? He didnt destroy that brand, in fact he built it

It me run on a shoestring and it reflects in their service and poor marketing . Obviously you haven’t seen the websites that are sole forums for don’t fly jet star.
ML – i agree with John (so there’s another one in the pot), Alan Joyce’s decisions has given me all sorts of conundrums when pondering the Qantas brand and rewarding it with loyalty and investment.
They indicate minimal loyalty to anything other than the deity called capitalism which means his brand contract with me has been broken AND under his watch the shareprice has tumbled from around the $5 mark to $1.56…
I want to support the brand ‘cos they are ‘Australian” but am having great trouble now as it is run by an arrogant little leprechaun who actually has no loyalty to Australia and it all feels like a pretty empty vessel on the goodwill chart for me at the moment.
About to spend $30K+ in airfares next year so will be very interesting where this conundrum takes me.

Andrew D – the “arrogant little leprechaun who actually has no loyalty to Australia” you refer to is an Australian Citizen. He has emigrated here permanently and took out Aussie citizenship well before he was CEO of Jetstar. It’s a fact.. look it up. Your comments are racist against those with Irish heritage.
Anyway back to topic.. Jetstar is a well run airline and has a good brand. Good luck to Liz.
