Mazda turns to animal instinct
Clemenger Harvie Edge has launched a new campaign aimed at promoting the animal charms of the new Mazda6.
Playing on the tagline ‘alive with excitement’ the ad features the Mazda6 driving down a typical suburban street. As it passes the other parked cars they ‘come alive’ and leak oil, start shaking and blaring alarms.
The ad, which launches on Sunday, forms a part of a wider campaign including print, online and outdoor media.

This is a cool ad. And speaking of cool car ads, I really like the latest Audi A5 Sportback one – the ‘breathing city’ one. (This sounds like such a bot comment, but I saw it advertised before a movie last night and it really grabbed me).
Although I like this ad, I think it’s nicely shot, my favourite car ad is still the VW spot night drive with Richard Burton reciting Under Milkwood by Dillan Thomas.
Nice. Jeez I like the way Mazda’s been going about their ads lately.
Doesn’t work for me at all. Certainly doesn’t say ‘Alive with excitement’. Wasn’t there another car ad a few years back where all the cars were scared and kept hiding in their garages? IIRC it was something from Holden. It reminds me of that but not in a good way.
And what’s the actual brand proposition? Says absolutely nothing about why Mazda is different from any other manufacturer. Probably an ok execution of a weak brand idea. Back to the drawing board I say, and expensive exercise though.
“Alive with excitement”, wtf, say no more. Hope the client didn’t pay for that.
Rip off of Peugeot from a few years back…
