Accompanied by Starship’s We Built This City, the campaign features customers enjoying Big Macs over the years.
As part of its 50th Big Mac celebration McDonald’s is also introducing a new limited edition ‘Grand Big Mac’ with bigger buns and bigger patties.
Last month rival fast food chain KFC also celebrated its 50th Birthday in Australia with an ad set in April 1968.
The ads were created by DDB Sydney.
Last month McDonald’s shifted its PR account from Eleven PR back to Mango Communications.
The campaign is part of global celebrations for the anniversary, with Leo Burnett London taking a similar approach in an ad featuring INXS’s New Sensation which began to air some months ago.
What a throughly charmless ad.
thanks for the BIG NUMBERS ddb, otherwise I’d never have been able to understand the concept of time. Somehow Leo’s managed to do this, UK far superior spot.
Terrible choice of music and that fake bad styling – again. Come on Maccas you can do better.
It’s a fun add!
THE WORST AD EVER!! We live in Australia NOT Nth America!!..typical corporate pandering to a client who’s interested only in manipulating history and the public for their own greed.Gutless..
your maths is a bit out Mackers your first MacDonald,s opened in Sydney in 1971 so that makes it 47 years not 50 so you have three more years to wait
San Bernardino, CA, the birthplace of the original McDonald’s and home of the McDonald brothers, congratulates McDonald’s and the Big Mac on 50 years!
