McDonald’s files suit against Hungry Jack’s for ‘Big Jack’ campaign
Two fast-food giants are set to go head to head in a battle over Hungry Jacks’ tongue in cheek Big Jack.
According to a federal court lawsuit from McDonald’s the burger and its advertising ‘imitates’ the ‘distinctive appearance’ of the chain’s Big Mac, as well as its ingredients and tagline.

Last blatant rip off was Darrell Lea. Now we have Hungry Jacks. Are we not even pretending to have original ideas anymore?
Surely our industry is better than this.
While I am not a fan the Darrell Lea one at least had a strategy – this one seems like they were wanting to be sued … and lose.
I prefer the Big Jack to the Big Mac. Big Mac has been getting smaller n smaller over time. These days alot of burgers are cold.

Come on now, no one is confused as to whether you can buy a McDonald’s burger from Hungry Jacks. They want to stop businesses from creating a burger with “Big ” as the title, and that is far too broad.
If McDonald’s don’t want competing businesses to promote products with names similar to theirs, then they should start making products with distinct titles, like ‘Whopper’.

Burger King’s marketing strategy always seems to center around disingenuous slacktivism and cause branding, with its fallback position being ‘lets troll Maccas’. Its so lame and definitely only made for the Cannes crowd, not the consumer.
The whole BK/HJ feel is that of an annoying little brother who constantly cries for attention, while his big brother nonchalantly ignores him. Well, now look what you’ve gone and done. Big brother decided to pay attention and served you.
This is just a joke at Macca’s expense. It’s the corporate version of a hair ruffle. Hilarious !!!
Seriously, who the hell wouldn’t know if they were in a Maccas or a Hungry Jack’s outlet? Or whose app they were using?
I hope the judge declares that the burgers ARE better at Hungry Jack’s!!
So are they going to sue Coles and Woolies for their special burger sauce as well??
