‘The media pulls your strings’: Presto takes part in global Mr Robot marketing push

Streaming service Presto was part of a co-ordinated global marketing push for the upcoming second series of Mr Robot yesterday, delivering an anti-capitalist rant live to fans on its Facebook page via Facebook Live before a clip which answers one of the cliffhangers at the end of the first season.

The stunt made it appear that the cyber hacking operation from the acclaimed show ‘fsociety’ had taken over the Facebook pages of broadcasters of the show in 13 countries, featuring a countdown and then a tailored message to fans in the native tongue of each country.

The Australian version starts with the line”Gday brothers and sisters” and goes into a rant on how the “media pulls your strings” and people are “seduced into buying things you don’t need” by marketers.
