Medium Rare appointed launch publisher of new David Jones magazine and app
Medium Rare Content Agency has been appointed the publisher of David Jones’ new customer magazine and app, which are due for launch in August.
The magazine, distributed quarterly in-store and mailed to David Jones’ customers, will deliver content around fashion, beauty, home and food.
The accompanying app will be available on mobile and tablet, for IOS and Android devices, and will have a weekly publishing frequency.
Gerry Reynolds, managing director of Medium Rare, said in a statement: “We are delighted to partner with Australia’s premium omni-channel retailer to create a high-quality publication that will reinforce David Jones’ position as the authority on fashion and style.
Why aren’t custom publishers called custom publishers anymore?
Because “content Marketing” is the new digital-age buzzword for what used to be called Custom Publishing/Advertorial
I can imagine the pitch now.
“No one wants to buy magazines anymore, so would you mind paying us to create one and deliver it them? While you’re at it, please tell all your current suppliers to set aside a chunk of their advertising budget.”
Oh, and why don’t you pay us to build and maintain an expensive app that will wither in the appstore along with the hundreds of thousands of others that never get discovered and downloaded, let alone used. Because it’s not like people have enough apps, afterall.
Wow, it’s a real funhouse in this comments section.
