Melissa Doyle’s Seven News at 4 debut fails to beat Nine’s Afternoon News

Mel DoyleFormer Sunrise presenter Melissa Doyle’s first day presenting Seven News At 4 saw her beaten by Nine’s Afternoon News. According to preliminary overnight metro ratings, Doyle’s 4pm debit rated 217,000 metro viewers compared to Nine’s 266,000.

However, the bulletin did beat other shows in the timeslot including Ten’s Totally Wild, which averaged 179,000 viewers.

Meanwhile, Sunrise, now presented by Samantha Armytage and David Koch, saw off Nine’s Today by 405,000 to 325,000 with wins in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. Today won Melbourne and there was a dead heat in Brisbane.

Doyle stepped down from Sunrise earlier this month amidst speculation about whether she chose to leave the show or was moved on.
