Meta gives kids a 14-day countdown ahead of the social media ban

Meta is issuing its under-16 social media users with 14 days’ notice to download their content from Instagram, Meta, and Threads before their accounts become dormant.

On Thursday morning, Meta started sending in-app messages, email, and text messages to users “it understands to be aged 13-15″, warning them they will soon lose access, with a prompt towards a number of next steps.

Meta announced on Thursday it will begin blocking new under-16 accounts and revoking existing access from December 4, with all known accounts being removed by December 10, when the social media ban officially comes into play.
