MFA agencies to boycott domestic awards for 12 months
Media agencies which are part of industry body the Media Federation of Australia (MFA) are being discouraged from entering domestic awards programs for 12 months.
Mumbrella understands the ‘pause’ only applies to local awards programs, with many agencies still required by their international counterparts to participate in overseas awards programs including the Cannes Lions. Sources have told Mumbrella that all the major media holding groups, bar one, have agreed to participate in the ban as profit-stretched agencies look to better allocate their resources.
Yesterday, the industry body announced it was pausing its own awards program and taking 12 months out to re-evaluate how it measures success.

I even think within agencies the award entry process is a joke! The teams submitting entries don’t necessarily do the best work for their clients they simply have more time on their hands….
More categories, more sub categories, more awards , more ceremonies , more fees, higher fees , more money for those running awards…. B&T, Ad News, Mumbrella, AMI, AMF, Campain Brief, AANN and so on …. it’s ending where it had to if people got too greedy
The goose is dead or at least looking terminally ill. No more golden award eggs for any of you?
Why are we all so obsessed with having to always be patting ourselves on the back? Why can’t we all just be a little humble and stop seeking adulation all the time? Let the clients take the glory. It leads to a much better life balance and level of satisfaction…
Funny the AMI awards entry advertisement is being served on this story.
Would be interesting if the creative agencies followed suit on this one. They are just as bored by the endless local awards merry-go-round of Mumbrella, AdNews, B&T, AC&E’s, AWARD, Campaign Brief etc.etc.etc.
