Millions tune into Nine for NRL’s big Vegas gamble

The NRL opening round in Las Vegas was a success for the Nine network, with millions tuning into the glittery spectacle.

Sunday Afternoon NRL Live — which featured both games on Sunday afternoon, starting from 1.30pm, drew an average national audience of 796,000, with 1.68 million Aussies tuning in across Nine’s free-to-air broadcast and the digital stream.

Despite the crowds, both at home, and at the game — which posted attendance figures of 40,746 for the second of the two matches — more Australians tuned into Nine to catch MAFS, which topped ratings with an average national audience of 1.76 million, and a massive reach of more than 3 million viewers.
