Ten’s attempt to launch a new Jamie Oliver cooking show against Seven’s blockbuster hit My Kitchen Rules won the struggling network just 293,000 metro viewers as MKR had 1.672m.

UK production Jamie and Jimmy’s Food Fight Club, with TV chefs Oliver and Jimmy Doherty, launched with an episode featuring Jamaican Olympic sprint champion Usain Bolt at 7.30pm.

However, the show could not match Seven as 1.67m food fans tuned into one of the final episodes of MKR at the same time, and the penultimate episode of this series of The Block had 1.487m watching as the public were invited in to inspect the apartment building ahead of tonight’s final auction.
