NAB attempts Big Brother house break to promote ‘no lock in’ home loans, Nine questions stunt’s ‘safety risk’
To promote the idea that no one should be locked into a home loan, banking giant NAB is attempting to break a contestant out of the Big Brother house.
The stunt marks the beginning of NAB’s ‘Where Freedom Lives’ campaign to push its home loans.
NAB has put out a $20,000 reward to the first housemate who chooses to leave the Big Brother house.
The stunt includes pizza boxes sent by a fake delivery man to the Big Brother house on the Gold Coast.
Updates will be available today on NAB’s Twitter feed and on NAB’s campaign website.
A NAB spokesman said: “We simply will not stand idly by while innocent people, even reality TV show contestants are locked within a home. It’s just a matter of principle.”
Channel Nine, which broadcasts Big Brother, commented: “We take the security of the people who work on site and the Housemates very seriously and do not condone any activity like this.”
The agency behind the stunt was Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.
Umm, the ‘innocent people, even reality TV show contestants’ not just volunteered to be locked up but went far out of their way and disrupted their lives to be locked up. Hardly a case of setting them free. (I do love the cheekiness of the idea though).
I love this!! Funny and engaging I’m hooked and can’t wait to see what they do next.
$20k could feed/shelter a lot of ‘homeless’ people
this is how banks use our money nice!
Well, it’s a joke isn’t it? I think it’s clever and makes the desired point.
NAB keep on doing it! A bloody great idea that you’d never imagine a bank having the balls to attempt.
Bravo.
Not funny, not relevant and not helpful.
Well said Flo.
Good execution… too bad no one is watching. Or if they are, they are about 15 years away from being interested in homeloans.
Hilarious!
Why not sky writing?
Flo, you’re an idiot. This is hilarious
the campaign hasn’t really worked as their videos has only been watched a couple of hundred and they only have 16 followers on twitter @HLFU_AU where they started the campaign.
Love a bank that makes advertising funny instead of boring 🙂
Do consumers even care?
Another NAB campaign designed for advertising industry websites.
I think you’re missing the point. NAB’s not talking to the teenagers watching BB, they are talking to the older (home buying) audience who think the programmes a joke. It’s a piss take.
NAB Fail, YouTube figures are notoriously slow to update. I suspect we’ll see those numbers jump soon.
Will be interesting to see if this gets any traction though.
i think they are strugging to come up with an idea that is anywhere close to the break up with your bank campaign
This probably cost 100-200k – with all the ‘creative time’. What a complete waist of money. Very lame. Not very well executed and a bank trying to do comedy/slapstick/pranks should be outlawed. Eerrks me to the bone.
They call it freedom, we call it eviction! Why don’t they just foreclose on the BB house then they can get all of the housemates.
Arrh banks, aren’t they just so unlikable. Funny campaign though.
Got to hand it to NAB, they keep trying new sh*t.
urgh. watching banks try to be cool is like watching your mum try to use street slang.
banks: everyone hates you and wacky ads aren’t going to change that, so please just stick to being arseholes and leave us all in peace kthxbai.
this is rad
To stop fake views YouTube cap the views until a moderator approves that they are real. That’s why rapidly popular video’s only show a few hundred views initially. It is merely a fail safe for people attempting to falsify a viral video. Thanks Google, always after the real data.
Hey, Tom
“A complete WAIST of money”?
Very HIP of you to SHOULDER the burden of telling them, but they probably won’t STOMACH any LIP from you.
Operation: Freedom Dolphin is hilarious!
This is just another ridiculous publicity stunt to take the attention away from Channel 9’s Big Brother. Nab, the people in the house CHOSE to be locked away for the duration of the show, they lined up and auditioned, by choice! It’s disappointing that Nab would try and jeopardise the future of the show which would impact dramatically on the workers and families of those 3oo + AUSTRALIAN staff that Channel 9 employs for the show. Nab, either think of an actual new marketing campaign rather than sponging off another brand or get your own show.
haha Love it!! 😀 what a great idea!! I Love Big Brother and NAB taking d piss, is hilarious and creative! Good on em! Got my attention! Would be absoloutely hilarious if it actually worked!!
Love the direction NAB going in their campaigns:)
not keen on it. its just not entertaining
