National Box Office: Audiences continue to marvel at Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine ruled the National Box Office for a third week in a row, with the Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds juggernaut taking a further $10.3 million to bring its Australian box office total to $47.89 million.

The Marvel film enjoyed the highest-grossing opening since Barbie in Australia, and the biggest opening of the year, taking in $19.9 million at the Australian box office across its Thursday-Sunday opening weekend, including preview screenings.

According to HOYTS, it was the highest-grossing opening weekend for an MA15+ film of all time, and the fourth-highest MCU opening weekend of all time behind Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Avengers: Infinity War. Globally, the film has grossed over US$1 billion.
