Nine’s former trade marketing director starts consultancy

Nine’s former director of trade marketing, Jamie Gilbert Smith, has launched his own consultancy: Occam Strategy and Consulting.

He announced the news on Linkedin, calling it “a strategy-first marketing consultancy offering senior expertise through a flexible, no-nonsense model.”

He brings two decades of strategic marketing experience to his consultancy, including roles as national business partnerships director at Hogarth and managing director at M&C Saatchi’s Sport & Entertainment.

Gilbert Smith’s role was made redundant at Nine in May, following the strategic restructuring of the company’s trade marketing team. He has been with the network for three years.

Matt James, chief sales officer, acknowledged his “contributions and the impact he has had on our team,” in a note to staff, praising Gilbert Smith’s “commitment, professionalism, and dedication”.
