NRMA edits koala campaign following complaints
IAG’s insurance brand NRMA has made a voluntary modification to its latest ad campaign that shows a young boy trying to rescue and re-home a koala from a power line.
Following complaints received by the NRMA regarding safety concerns for the boy featured in the ad, the company opted to modify it and remove the offending scene.
The original version of the ad showed the boy taking a ladder from his garden shed, leaning it up against the power pole and climbing it to try and coax the koala down.
The original version can be seen here:
Oh duh Monkees. And I’m sure WIRES are going to have something to say about a kid approaching snatching s wild koala. Such a stupid spot on every level.
It’s better without it. It leaves more to the imagination and highlights the helplessness of his situation.
Ummmmm…..so nobody noticed he took it back to where the forest is being cleared and let it get onto a tree thats probably gonna get knocked down next day?????
Why does the boy release the koala into a work zone? Great idea, but seriously … Put it into a nice bit of bushland!!!!
You had the opportunity to make a really sincere and genuine statement that would resonate with any Aussie, but you turned it into a joke – please remake this ad, it has SO much potential.
Can’t make everyone happy
