Offspring sheds 180,000 viewers but helps Ten win the night
Channel Ten’s Offspring shed 180,000 metro viewers on its second outing, slipping from last week’s 959,000 to just 779,000 last night.
Offspring, which aired at 8:30pm, was the second most-watched show across the key advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49, 25-54), second only to Ten’s Masterchef in the 7:30pm time slot, which won the night again with 1.169m viewers.
The strength of the two programs helped Ten to call the night a win, with an audience share of 17.9%, slightly ahead of Seven’s 17.7%, and Nine’s 17%. ABC achieved a share of 13.3%.
In the news hour, Seven News at 6:00pm grabbed 1.160m viewers, with 1.046m sticking around for Seven’s 6:30pm News. Nine News was the next most watched news program of the night with its 6:00pm and 6:30pm programs pulling in 992,000 and 932,000 viewers, respectively.
At 7:00pm, Nine’s A Current Affair was watched by 799,000, but couldn’t topple Seven’s Home and Away, which was the third most watched show in the 16-39 demographic with an overall audience of 825,000.
On the ABC, the 7:00pm News was watched by 824,000, Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell reached by 677,000, and QI at 8:00pm attracted an audience of 545,000.
In the wake of the election, ABC’s The Chaser’s Election Desk pulled in 655,000 viewers, ahead of last week’s 579,000.
