Omnicom-IPG deal clears final hurdle with EU approval

The European Commission has unconditionally approved Omnicom Group’s US$13 billion (A$20.1 billion) acquisition of IPG Mediabrands, clearing the final regulatory hurdle and paving the way for the deal to close within days.
Reports suggest the merger of the world’s third- and fourth-largest ad buyers could complete as soon as Wednesday in the US.
It will create the world’s biggest holdco, with well over 100,000 staff and combined revenues of more than US$25 billion.
