Omnicom shake-up claims IPG Mediabrands APAC boss Leigh Terry
Leigh Terry exits IPG Mediabrands after almost 10 years
IPG Mediabrands’ Asia Pacific chief Leigh Terry has become the latest casualty of Omnicom Group’s landmark acquisition of the fourth-largest holding company.
Terry, who has led the holding company’s APAC operations from Sydney since January 2017, was let go this week — alongside long-serving agency boss Mark Coad — as Omnicom begins consolidating the A$20-billion deal.
In a statement shared with Mumbrella and posted on Linkedin, Terry said: “With the merger of IPG Mediabrands into Omnicom, I’ll now be leaving the business, but not the industry.
Sad to see DDB retired.
However, if you’re going to send a signal you’ve really changed
there is no better way of signal your intent, than to kill off your
greatest symbol of the past, and DDB is arguably THE single
greatest symbol of legacy creative agencies.
As for the media changes – not unexpected but…..
The much-loved and highly regarded Mark Coad is going to be
very busy answering calls over the next few weeks.
I’m not familiar with Leigh Terry, but I’m sure, like Mark, he too
will be in demand as more and more clients look to take media
in-house, or at the very least, play a much bigger role in their
media spend.
Hopefully, these announcements won’t be followed by pre-Xmas
news of retrenchments of regular that’s normally follows big re-
structure announcements.
